Why do Davida sell helmets taht are not road legal in the UK ?

DAVIDA PRODUCE HELMETS FOR A WORLD WIDE MARKET AND NOT JUST FOR THE UK The Davida Jet is certified to ECER22-05- an approved standard across Europe The Davida 91 is certified to BS 6658 TYPE B - an approved standard in the UK The Davida Classic does not conform to any current helmet safety standard. The Davida Speedster is certified to the DS SIS safety standard - an approved standard in Scandinavia The Davida Classic Jet is certified to the DOT safety standard - an approved standard in the USA Motorcycle helmets must conform to a current certification relative to the law of the particular country in which you are riding. Please refer to the individual countries for the approved road safety standard certifications within that country. IN THE UK Motorcycle helmets must carry the ECER22-05 or BS 6658 Type B certification. Helmets which carry ANY OTHER certification (new or old) are not considered to conform to a current UK safety standard and therefore not road legal for riding motorcycles on public roads in the UK. HOWEVER 1. As an authentic replication of the original low dome racing helmet, many people like to have a Davida Classic helmet when displaying their bike at shows. 2. Riders choose to wear a Davida Classic, Speedster or Classic Jet on a trike, even though there is no legal requirement to wear head protection. 3. Riders choose to take a helmet, which is not legal in the UK , on holiday, and where they intend to ride in countries where these helmets are legal. REMEMBER Life and accident insurance companies will excercise their right to refuse to pay you or your dependants if it can be shown you contributed towards your death or injuries by wearing inadequate protection eg: wearing any motorcycle helmet that does not conform to current road safety standards. This may particularly relevant to families who expect a mortgage to be paid in the event of the death of the main wage earner.
